Freaking awesome.

So, what’s been going on? I’ll give you the Reader’s Digest Condensed version:

- interviewed all over creation
- all of the FT gigs went to adjuncts
- started working at a diploma mill
- quit said diploma mill
- taught ESL summer courses and loved them
- lost my most recent class due to low enrollment (just for a few weeks until next term)
- upped my PT gig to a FT gig (still no vacation or benefits, but overtime!)
- set up two niche websites
- became an Internet Marketing teacher/trainer
- created my own aromatherapy line for soaps and perfumes
- starting a gig teaching K-12 schools how to implement educational technology into their classrooms
- have been able to stay at home with my daughters for the first summer in eight years

Essentially, I’m reinventing myself. I’ve told myself that no, I’m not having a mid-life crisis. I’m just…

…well, shit. I’ve been The Little Engine That Could FOR EVERYBODY ELSE for the past four years (and more). Now, I’m putting my own Little Engine on the tracks, and I’m kicking things into gear for ME. Nobody else.

Ehhh, OK. I’m going to pay my bills, but that’s it.

The bottom line is that I’m having a lot of fun doing whatever it is that I want to do. I wasn’t going to launch the lomo site, but I quit teaching at the diploma mill. I wasn’t going to launch the aromatherapy line, but then my ESL class got cancelled. This is a great time for me to move forward creatively, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do so.

Oh, and I moved forward and took (and passed) my second kung fu test. It’s been a few years of hard work and training, but I’m thrilled to move forward and have that accomplishment under my belt, so to speak (we don’t do belts, just level tests). I have a belt in mental kick-assery, so it’s nice to see my body catching up to it, even in my old age.
